When my child was a toddler he had the cutest stuffed animal that sang “head, shoulders, knees and toes” for the life of me I can’t remember what happened to it.

Any who, the song itself was catchy and it helped little one remember his body parts.  Sadly, the stuffed animal didn’t sing in Spanish.

As he got older, I used a combination of flashcards and cut-outs that I glued on popsicle sticks.  We made funny games out of the cards, for example I would put the flashcard “la oreja” on my nose and he would crack up laughing saying, “¡Mamá no! Esa es tú nariz.”

We would sing the song together, too.   I found this fun video that teaches you to sing head, shoulders, knees and toes in Spanish!

Another fun activity that you can do with little ones is print out the body parts and have them color them.

Body Part Nomenclature Cards – English and Spanish

Other useful resources that I found was from Spanish Simply in which she uses worksheets, flashcards, and YouTube videos.   Spanish Plans has a fun post using Mr. Potato Head.  The flashcards that I use are  “Everyday Words in Spanish: Photographic Flash Cards.”  They are of great quality and durable especially when using with small kids.

Some of the key words that we practiced were:

Cabeza / Head
Ojos / Eyes
Nariz / Nose
Orejas / Ears
Boca / Mouth
Dientes / Teeth
Cuello / Neck
Pelo / Hair
Brazos / Arms
Hombros / Shoulders
Codos / Elbows
Manos / Hands
Dedos / Fingers
Pecho / Chest
Caderas / Hips
Estomago / Stomach
Piernas / Legs
Rodillas / Knees
Tobillos / Ankles
Pies / Feet
Dedos del pie / Toes

I’ve found some other useful resources that can be adapted and used in Spanish:

Look at Me Activity where you can trace your child on a butcher paper. It will be a life-size drawing of your child.

Print, laminate and glue a magnet or Velcro behind each word and play with it on a cookie sheet or poster board.

You can download a free printable from ABCs to ACTS where kids can color as they discuss body parts.

Below are some fun books that you can use to teach your little ones about the body parts. The books are affiliate links if you purchase a book via the link I will receive a small monetary compensation. Thank you!
