I’ve seen firsthand the quality resources that Monica has created about Latinas and Latinos through her blog Mommy Maestra. When she announced her new book, I knew I was going to love her book. She certainly didn’t disappoint.
In her new book, she begins the introduction with some burning questions and a common denominator that all of these 15 people Latinas and Latinos share and that is that they “fiercely embrace their own heritage.”-Monica Olivera
Her introduction questions will have your readers dying to know the answers.
Monica provides short biographies in an easy and fun way to read for both young and old. In this book, she narrates their lives, beginning with their early life, accomplishments, and famous quotes. Throughout the book, she also features key vocabulary words in bold (included in the glossary at the end). Latin Americans in History: 15 Inspiring Latinas and Latinos You Should Know is perfect not only for your homeschool journey but also for traditional classes.
Even if you don’t use this book in an “educational setting” you can certainly use it to broaden your and your child’s knowledge and learn about these 15 famous Latinos and Latinas. I must confess there were some I didn’t know of like for example, José Gervasio Artigas and María Piedad Castillo de Levi. Do you know them? I bet you don’t. ?
This is a history book about Latinas and Latinos written by a Latina author. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
